Rigorous Quality Management Achieves Successful Fulfillment of the Major Inspection for #10 Gas Turbine

The project of the major inspection for #10 gas turbine (PG9371E Unit) of Shenzhen Nanshan Power Plant, affiliated to Shenzhen Nanshan Power Station Co., Ltd., was carried on by our company and kicked off on Dec. 18, 2007. Closely cooperated and energetically supported by the leaders and staffs of related departments of Nanshan Power Plant, our company¡¯s site personnel could make great efforts altogether for the project, leading to a successful fulfillment of the major inspection of the turbine on Jan. 26, 2008, which has smoothly been connected to the grid.
 
Shenzhen Nanshan Power Station Co., Ltd., the first power plant company carrying out power generation through gas-steam combined cycle, has the installed capacity that can top its most counterparts in China. Through a dozen of years¡¯ growth, the company has accumulated plenty of experiences for the gas turbine¡¯s maintenance, technical updating and standard management. Before this overhauling, Nanshan Power Plant had put forward rigorous requirements, and accordingly, our company also made promises for the items of overhauling security, overhauling quality and the time limit.
 
Much attention was paid to the major inspection by various levels of our company¡¯s leaders, who had organized a prominently excellent overhauling team especially for the project, including a complete formation of technical, specialized and management staffs. Besides, all kinds of overhauling tools, instruments and meters could arrive the site in due time. With the excellent organization, the personnel and material resources could be assured for a successful fulfillment of the main inspection project.
 
The main inspection for the #10 gas turbine completed the tasks as follows: overhaul of the fuel nozzles and replacement of the consumables overhaul of the crossfire tubes, combustion liners and transition pieces, and replacement of qty 14 of transition pieces as well as all the seal bits on the side of the 14 transition pieces; overhaul of the compressor¡¯s rotor blades and vanes; replacement of the turbine nozzles of the 1st and 2nd stages, and overhaul of the 3rd stage nozzles; overhaul and replacement of the rotor blades of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd stages; replacement of the 1st stage shrouds, and overhaul of the shrouds of the 2nd and 3rd stages; overhaul and clearance measure between rotor blades and vanes; overhaul of the turbine casings and compressor casings; overhaul of the compressor¡¯s bearings; overhaul and treatment of the vanes from the 1st to the 17th stages, as well as the blade root adjustable gaskets of the guide vanes EGV1 and EGV2, and repairs of the galling caused by attrition on the top of the compressor¡¯s vanes; overhaul of the parts in the lubrication system and replacement of  the lube filter cartridge; overhaul of the accessories systems such as the accessory gear box, atomizing air system, cooling pump motor, fueling system, cooling & sealing air system; reconstruction of exhaust lines of the bleed valve by shifting their position; replacement of cooling fan motors 88TK-1, -2; correction to various thermal measurements and meters, and replacement of  related thermal elements, etc.

In this major inspection for the unit, though the task is important and difficult while the schedule is tight, our site staff still strictly abided by the <Management Institution of Secure and Civilized Construction> of our company. During the project, we prohibited the acts of habitually violating regulations, or directing or working not according to rules. Concerning the heavy load operations such as rotor lifting, guidebook was made in advance and the procedures were undertaken only when Nanshan Power Plant  checked it up and agreed on the procedures, so as to ensure no life or equipment accidents happened during the overhaul. At the same time, during the project, we carried out our procedures strictly under the unit overhauling standard, implementing overhauling-repairing Process Card System and 3-level acceptance system. The procedure control was practiced during the whole big project to assure the overhauling good quality. Due to the careful plan and reasonable arrangement before the project, as well as our implementation strictly under plan during the overhaul, we could ensure the timely fulfillment of the major inspection and satisfy the customer¡¯s needs.
