The time passes through hurriedly, and the new season will come soon. In the retrospect to the Year 2008, we feel moved and unforgettable.

In the early half year, for the project of 4 sets of power units in Ghana, our domestic team was mobilized to complete the work such as coating, dismantling and packing; preparation of over 180 types of medicine, commodities and labor security necessities; preparation of 490 types of tools; arrangement of 151 packages, including the items occupying 4,600 cubic meters and weighing 1,360 tons in total. All the above-mentioned cargoes were shipped to the power plant in Borne, Ghana crossing over 11,000-strong nautical miles. Other than the damage in partial packing surface, all shipped cargoes were complete in number and quality. Shipping marks and packing lists conformed to the international practices, which was fully confirmed by Sunon Asogli However, the operation of packing and packing materials was required to improve for long distance stacking and transportation.

A great number of meticulous processes such as overhauling, reconditioning, renovating and coating in advance of being shipped overseas substantially alleviated difficulties of overseas purchasing and construction, and accordingly, saved a lot of charges. For example, a bottle of argon prepared in China would be charged as same as 3,000 Yuan in Ghana, and maintenance fee of each bottle would even be charged 1,100 Yuan, which was unbelievably expensive for one thing, and very complicated in renting process for another. Therefore, however meticulous and careful to construct and care for details in domestic preparation was not excessive. More difficulties thought beforehand, more economical plans we could make to save charges, which is a basic idea for development.

Coating in Jan. and Feb., packing in Feb. and Apr., loading on ship in Jun., and stacking at site in Aug. Besides large-scale of stocking spare parts and packing, embedded parts for two sets of power units in the Ghana Project were designed, and our work was judged as perfect in processing and serving. It was all along smooth in embedded parts and related services, without any reconstruction and quality accident.

When offering favors to others, the compliment could be favored. In our reminding and hastening, the owner was hurried up to complete their work in part overhaul, purchase, and work in basic parts. With the responsible attitude, for many times we had suggested correction to the site design, which was admired later by supervisor and the owner. Since our early arrival at the site, we were favored of warm assistance from thermal power and construction teams from Guangdong, and moreover, we were always keeping good cooperation with the other parties. The timely communication compensated us in urgent situations and made the construction convenient.

Three batches of staff arrived at the construction site in Ghana successively from Jul. to Sep. Without crane and lifting tools at first, our team tried to implement the construction by creating situation as far as possible; when equipped with construction vehicles, by reasonable mobilization of teamwork, complete usage of the advanced conditions in the dry season, and the mode of turning construction to the 4-set turbines, our team recaptured the most construction time that had been delayed earlier. At present the installation process is a bit faster than the ownerĄŻs Network Schedule, and the team had finished the embedded parts, main frame positioning, re-loading rotors in 2-set of turbines, and installing equipments on 4-set of main frame whole-set units. By the end of Dec., from the Yearly Summary (Year 2008) about security, health and environmental friendliness that was organized by Sunon Asogli, our team was Zero record in security and quality accident, and the lodging area was clean and in order, so our team Nanguang Power was admired. Also, according to the Yearly Process Summary, among the construction teams, our team was the only one satisfying the ownerĄŻs Net Schedule.

The construction, however, must be regarded as a whole. So far the time to connecting grid has not ensured; natural gas pipes have just been constructed; turbine lube oil and inlet filtration cartridge are stored in China; equipments have not been installed on level ground; water washing system, water-water exchanger and other basic systems have not been provided, and the related pipes have not been installed; the three-set of turbines are lack of cable bridges; new parts and consumables are always found defective during construction; supplies of ownerĄŻs materials are delayed; construction process of different units are varied. Facing the situation, we think for the  next stage we have to leave some staff there to keep on working patiently.

From Oct. to the next Apr. the dry season, in Africa the environment temperature is high while ultraviolet radiation is serious, and therefore, our project department arranged for work and rest reasonably so as to adjust physical situation of our staff. Fully considering the conditions in our lodging area, we sprayed liquid medicine every day, killing mosquitoes and flies, and prevented malaria. In order to ensure smooth construction process, we tried our best to safeguard nutrition and hygiene for our team members, so that we could prevent non-working depletion of members, which we have reached during the construction.

Disturbing political air during the general election in Ghana, and unsafe lodging area backing on the sea forced our project department to restrict indiscipline. Whether understanding or not, any unharmonious situation was not allowed, and facts witnessed that our discipline guaranteed the profit of our whole team. During the overseas project, the total 27 members were healthy in physical situation, harmonious in relationship and peaceful in emotion.

With the English study lessons twice each week, even several words like UP\DOWN\LEFT\RIGHT were much useful for crane operators. An international project must be supported by capable genius, and the best lesson is the needs from work and life. Efficiency can be created by self-improving and forging the young workers. All of our members were improved and exercised in the project because their ways of thought and routine could become adjustable during practice.

The contracting project in Ghana resulted from the pioneering thought from Nanguang Power. Undoubtedly, itĄŻs wise to take our advantage, seize the chance and expand our market shares. Compared with the domestic projects, we have new problems to be solved, such as staff accomplishment, working/living conditions, international routines/practices, and etc. The project also witnessed that human physical condition must be taken into consideration in an area like Africa. It is a fresh theme to hold feature and whole process for the overseas projects.

As the project in Ghana is the first overseas project for Nanguang Power, the wholly fresh environment and conditions are surely harder than any domestic project. However, we strive backing on hardness, because we passed, experienced, and accordingly, we accumulated experience.

The peripheral supply and industrial basis in Ghana was much worse than expected. By the end of Sep. when our team arrived at the site, there was no vehicles, nor crane hired by the owner, so in the beginning we had to construct through pure manpower. Thinking of the view, we deeply understand the priceless value of the corporate backup.

ItĄŻs said that without strong mind a man can not become wise. A wise man is able to have the hope to win while a smart company is bound to have the opportunity for development. Facing the  global economic crisis, calmly standing against the severe marketing situation, Nanguang Power is what we say a smart company, that is, a prosperous company with no disturbance.

We have reasons to feel confident with the future as our management firm in willing, and our team members responsible in attitude and team spirit. As a famous Chinese proverb goes, sitting at the peak will have the biggest birdĄŻs view of all the mountains WeĄŻll go around the world for further development. Victory belongs to Nanguang Power, and weĄŻll surely have a brighter tomorrow.

In the faraway West Africa, on the beach facing the immense Atlantic Ocean, all members of the Nanguang Power project department in Ghana freed an old turtle back to the sea, which carried our emotions and the best wishes.
